Guilty's Fantasy....A Guilty Kingdom

This King has some pretty impressive resources.  Maybe we should try and become a Guilty Kingdom.  It could be a great way to raise capital.

While, I rarely keep anything from Thin Mint, there's a lot we can learn from Royalty.  Although, it's hard to keep a secret when you work with your spouse.  However, to feed my Guilty's mindset, I always fund a way to fund my decadent side.

Thin Mint's Birthday is always a party

It's Thin Mint's birthday and dinner plans are all set.  Chef Locke will be preparing a feast for the family at his new Elkins Park BYOB.  Everyone is really excited.  Junior Mint and Guilty Too are joining us as well.  My beautiful wife's birthday celebration is going to be awesome.  We will have photos and more on the Locke's restaurant tomorrow.  We hear great things about this corner Bistro.

What's on your lap?

Elegant entertaining for adults is back in fashion. Have your kids sleepover at Grandma’s house and you can dream big. How about an overflowing Raw Bar with lots seafood.  You definitely need a selection of Oysters.  Our dear friend in a dicey black dress suggested we have Wellfleets, Chincoteagues, and Apalachicolas shucked and iced. That remarkable Mitzvah Maker is a true Gourmand.

Call Provence, invite the A List and then break out that sexy new dress. We know what you like. Raw Oysters on your lap are always a fun place to start.

Celebrating love is always a Guilty Pleasure

Wow, it's been a long winter. Thankfully it's almost March and time to starting landscaping. We can feel the winds changing and soon there will be bud's everywhere.  It's time to celebrate the coming of Spring with a fantastic Guilty Pleasures party.

That's what's happening tonight in New Jersey.  Several trendsetting club members are having sizzling party celebrating love and their relationships.  What a great idea!!! Guess who's catering?

Live Well. Live Guilty. Live a Legendary Life.

Trying to make it real with the Blues

Listening to great music is always a Guilty Pleasure. When I am not savoring and swaying to the sounds of the Grateful Dead, I love the blues. Music was so amazing back then. I attended groundbreaking shows in Boston, Memphis, New Orleans, NYC and Atlanta. The blues genre is by far the most American style of music.

One show I particularly enjoyed was the midnight show of the 1974 Newport Jazz Festival in Manhattan at Avery Fisher Hall. Formerly known as the Philharmonic Hall, this concert featured all the headliners, including Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, BB King and Bobby Blues Bland.

However, my favorite blues performers were Les McCann and Eddie Harris. They had a jazzy edge that really got your motor running. I was fortunate enough to enjoy several of their high intensity shows at the now-defunct Jazz Workshop and Paul's Mall in Boston. Their live album Swiss Movement is one of the best live albums ever recorded. If you have not already done so, spoil yourself and pickup a copy of this timeless classic. Their song "Compared to What" is always first of my non-Dead play list. Throw in some Grand Marnier, chocolate truffles and Guilty is ready to swagger. Has anybody seen Thin Mint?

Late Night Television is crowded with Top Talent

Great television is always a guilty pleasure.  How much do you miss the Sopranos? Rest in peace Tony.

Unfortunately, exceptional television shows are becoming difficult find and even more challenging to enjoy. With too little time, countless reality channels and the never-ending Olympics, my attention turns elsewhere.

However, that trend could soon be changing.  The Jimmy Fallon era began Monday evening as the Tonight Show host.  Based in NYC, this show is going to be fun to watch.

The former SNL star is so innovative and funny, but so is the competition..  With Jimmy Kimmel, David Letterman and now Jimmy Fallon, all on late night, the talent has never been better. I respect all of them.

The real problem is, it's impossible to stay up late and watch without YouTube, Hulo or a DVR. Guilty needs his rest as do you.

Thankfully technology has our back.  Share the Dancing Bear blanket and pass the truffled popcorn.

Guilty's Turkey Chili or inner peace. It's a tough choice.

It's Day Three of Guilty's Strict Diet and the world has not stopped spinning on it's axis.   I did a excellent this weekend eating less and avoiding temptation.  I have a long way to go, but healthy, low fat meal like this definitely helps.

I decided to make my famous Turkey Chili for staff lunch.  My chili style is Tex-Mex with a dash of Argentina.  Like the Wild Bull of the Pampas, Guilty definitely got Gaucho Game. I used three types of Beans, lots of spices, four types of hot peppers, fresh cilantro and Vidalia onions.

I passed on the cheddar cheese and sour cream.  Now my nose is running and my ears are popping  It may be cold outside, but tummy is nothing but toasty.

I stashed chili in the walk-in the freezer for my the chefs and my afternoon grazing. Guilty Too and Thin Mint laid claim to whatever was left.  Geez, that spicy Guilty Pleasure certainly was definitely popular on a cold Monday.

Jesus Saves, but Espo scores on the rebound

Guess what's for breakfast this morning.  No, it's not that. The USA is playing Russia in Men Ice Hockey. We should have fielded a team of buff gay waiters from Philadelphia and New York.  They would have kicked Putin's homophobic butt back to Moscow.

Guilty is a big time hockey fan. I have cheered for the New York Rangers since the amazing Eddie Giacomin was in goal and they foolishly traded Brad Park to the Boston Bruins for Phil Esposito.  It takes a long time to recover from inept management, especially in sports.  While in Boston, Espo was the inspiration for one of the best bumper stickers ever.  Jesus Saves, but Espo scores on the rebound.

I attended Boston University and ice hockey was king. We won the NCAA Hockey Championship twice while I was in college. Cheering those teams on was a lot of fun. Besides the Rangers and BU, I really enjoy Team USA Hockey.  After football season, the front row needs more to enjoy than the mindless NBA and NCAA Basketball.

Looking back, the Miracle on Ice in Lake Placid is one of the most unforgettable moments in history. I am not referring to just sports considering the changes afoot in USA-Russian relationships. Four teammates from BU team played for the 1980 Olympic team.  They were key contributors to that Gold Medal winning team.  Mike Eruzione, Jim Craig, Dave Dave Silk and Jack O'Callahan.

This is only the opening round so there plenty of time to cheer on our team with an Olympic Hockey party catered by Provence. Talk about Team building USA USA USA!!

That chant never gets old.

Enjoying the Lego Movie with my Thin Mint is the best Valentine's Day present ever

Put on your hardhat, we going to a very special place this evening where innovation and creativity rule.

With the advent of video streaming, we find ourselves going to the movies less and less.  Live's busy and most of our weekends are booked.  However, tonight is different.  Our parties have canceled due to the weather and we are free agents on Valentine's Day.  Going to see the Lego Movie with Thin Mint is the perfect escape. Have you read the reviews?  This flick is being hailed as one of the best movies ever.

Going out with Thin Mint is always an adventure.  Besides, that ageless starlet is always the most beautiful woman in the room. I definitely know how lucky I am to be Guilty.

Enjoying great food and beverage as an Aphrodisiac. Let's get this party started

It's almost Valentine's Day in Guilty Town and romance is definitely in the air.  Our wintry landscape provides the perfect backdrop to enjoy and explore the many purported Aphrodisiac properties of food, herbs and beverage. Since the crown of creation, seduction, intimacy and passion have been cultivated and enhanced by a wide variety of gastronomic delights consumed before a roaring fire.

People are just as adventurous in love as they are with aphrodisiacs. From Istanbul to Sydney, Romeo creates recipes to woo and wow Juliet while heightening his own sexual satisfaction.  He was one smart and sexy teenager.

There are some really hot sensual cookbooks available online or at your favorite bookstore. Looking for some weekend fun, check out Fork me, Spoon me by Amy Reilly or Intercourses by Martha Hopkins.

Although the reasons for physical attraction and sexual desire are almost as much a mystery today as they were in ancient times, we do know that the genesis of sexual desire begins in the brain - in the hypothalamus, which also governs our appetites for food and drink.

The vast oceans cover much of the planet and are the home so many forms of life. Therefore it's no surprise that most sea creatures have the elements to form an aphrodisiac. All shellfish, the strongest aphrodisiacs, contain phosphorus, calcium, iodine, iron, vitamin B and glycophosphates, basic essentials for an aphrodisiac. All oily fish, such as salmon, tuna, shark, eel, herring, mackerel and sardines, and many forms of white fish, including sole and turbot, contain phosphorus, calcium and vitamins A, B and D, important elements in a variety of aphrodisiac treats.

Oysters have always been highly prized for their delicate flavor and there is much debate as to whether the native (also known as flat) oyster or the gigas (also known as Pacific or rock oyster) is superior. Traditionalists choose the native, but increasingly more people are recognizing and enjoying the gigas, not least for its juicy, plump texture.

Some oysters repeatedly change their sex from male to female and back, giving rise to claims that the oyster lets one experience the the masculine and feminine sides of love.

From a Guilty Pleasures perspective, there's nothing more daringly decadent than enjoying a catered Raw Bar au Natural.

Sensual foods do not have to be the most expensive items at the store. My father loved to eat Radishes. It was one of his favorite Guilty Pleasures. Years later I learned that a Radish is considered a divine aphrodisiac by Egyptian Pharaohs, most likely because its spicy taste stimulated the palate. Apparently, Dad had it all going on.

We have explored the mystical power of Truffles many times before at the Guilty Pleasures Club. They are considered a powerful aphrodisiac due to its rarity and musky aroma. They have long been considered to arouse the palate and the body. To sustain his masculinity, an ancient lover in lore was said to have gorged himself to death on Alba truffles during the wedding feast.

In the last 50 years, the erotic nature of food has been changing radically, along with our attitudes towards love, sex and how to perform. Gone is the belief that men need rare steaks both to arouse desire and to keep up their stamina. Instead, Europeans turn to more subtle meats, although they are not necessarily to be found in the supermarkets.

Bunderfleisch, for example, made in the Swiss mountains with a secret formula using mountain herbs and white wine, creates surprisingly sudden strength, and pastrami can do the same. Parma ham, delicious with green figs, is also good for providing instant energy. Lachsschinken (called Filet de Saxe in France) with Roquefort cheese was often eaten by Casanova before his famous conquests.

Vegetarians should also take heart. Peas, broad beans, radishes, artichokes, lettuce, leeks and onions are all confirmed as having aphrodisiac properties. The Greeks noticed that onions “dim the eyes and excite amatory propensities” but also that even the onion “will do you no good if you have no strength yourself.”

Asparagus, an aristocrat among vegetables, still grows in its wild form along the sandy coasts of France, in Greece and profusely on the Russian Steppes. Witte goud (white gold), the seasonal asparagus of Brabant and Limburg - sturdy white shoots towering above their foreign cousins - has become the favourite Dutch treat.

Three courses of asparagus were always served to 19th century bridegrooms due to its reputed aphrodisiac powers. “Asparagus seems to work magic on the Dutch taste buds,” says Joop van Zantvort, owner of Auberge de Koets in ‘s-Hertogenbosh, where a new asparagus menu is offered daily in season (May and June).

Other foods with sensual overtones...

• Caviar: is high in zinc, which stimulates the formation of testosterone, maintaining male functionality.

• Champagne: viewed as the "drink of love," moderate quantities lower inhibitions and cause a warm glow in the body.

• Chocolate: contains both a sedative which relaxes and lowers inhibitions and a stimulant to increase activity and the desire for physical contact. It was actually banned from some monasteries centuries ago.

Fruit delights the senses in many ways. Figs, like oysters, need nothing but their own inimitable qualities. Figs were celebrated by ancient Greeks in a frenzied copulational ritual. The pale golden quince was said to be the original apple which lured Eve, while the serpent that tempted Eve hid in a bunch of bananas. Eve may have been the first person on the planet to enjoy life's Guilty Pleasures.

The fabled Banana has long been considered an aphrodisiac. Not only due to its' elongated shape, but also its' creamy, lush texture. Some research studies show its' enzyme bromelain enhances male performance. Banana blossom also appears in Filipino recipes as an aphrodisiac.

Berries and melons are agents of erotic seduction. From long stemmed Chocolate-dipped Strawberries to Crenshaw melons, moist and sweet is the perfect snack between the sheets.

Good sex needs plenty of energy. Raw food processes far more minerals and vitamins than cooked food. For a better sex life, eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, and drink ginseng tea. Al fresco food - a watermelon on a hot day or piping hot soup washed down with malt whisky in the depths of winter - make an equally memorable and appropriate meal.

Great sex needs plenty of pampering. Just ask any Skinny Chick, she will set the record straight. Spoiling yourself and lover should take many creative forms. From the candles to a Tantric massage to creme brulee infused strawberries, there's a party going on and I am Guilty as Charged.

Many thanks to About.com, Amy Reiley and the London Food Festival for their contributions to this posting.

Gigi's Fried Fish is an Island vacation.

Food trucks in Philadelphia are really disappointing.  I have gone to numerous trucks around the city and almost everyone offers mediocre food that tastes old and boring.  What gives?  Do you have to live in Portland or New York City to get exceptional street food? This injustice needs to stop and stop soon.

I did find one exception although I have one major suggestion. I stopped at GiGi's Caribbean Soul Food truck. They have a popular restaurant and several food trucks located throughout the city.  I visited the one located at the corner of 38th and Spruce in University City. The truck manager in the truck gave me a tasting of all of their Soul Foods  I loved the Oxtail.  She was awesome. Their Jerk Chicken was had great spice, but ours is much better.  I think it's because the braised their Jerk Chicken.  I prefer Chef Greg's smoking method.  Their chicken wings were big and tasty, but seemed expensive.  Three dollars for 3 wings and 2 sides for street food was too rich my blood.

More importantly, their fried white fish was exceptional and I enthusiastically recommend it.  The fried fish was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the breading.  For sides, I had fresh green beans and french fries.  I was really surprised that they did not offer hand cut fries.  They definitely should. Maybe Guilty can suggest a menu upgrade.  All in all, I was quite pleased with the customer service(Great service is a rarity when it comes to Philadelphia food trucks.  Most people act like they are not happy to be working out of a truck), platter size and the fantastic fried fish.  It was light, delicate and flavorful.    I'll be back.

Thin Mint got game and Guilty got corned beef hash. Some of the keys to success

We are back on the grid. Hot water, heat and home fries. WOOHOO!!! I made Guilty Too an awesome breakfast.  I am a peerless with a black iron skillet.

Once I arrived at work, the chef's made me gleeful with corned beef hash and eggs. It was incredible.  What a fantastic morning.  The Guilties have survived and thrived the latest extreme weather dilemma. Florida can wait. The outpouring of concern and solutions was overwhelming. A special thank you to our Guilty Mitzvah Maker and her heart of gold.

Business is great. Great humanity is better. With our new normal, relationships matter now more than ever. It's easy to see the keys to success.  Guilty and Thin Mint got game and mad skills.

Loving Thin Mint

We are in the midst of a massive power outage and it looks like we won't have any power for the next week. Some people book hotel rooms.  Some people move in with friends and some people fly to Miami.  Guilty cannot fly south although the Miami flight sounded sweet.  We have an work calendar that jammed full with events.

With Valentine's Day on the horizon, Guilty thinking of ways to spoil Thin Mint.
